TRAIN STATION. The courthouse is 8 blocks from the Wilmington Train Station (10 minute walk.) Taxis are available.
AIR TRAVEL. Flights should be scheduled to arrive at the Philadelphia Airport (30 minutes from courthouse). While shuttles and car rentals are available, we generally suggest that counsel and clients are met by private car to avoid unnecessary delays and inconvenience. While shuttles and car rentals are available, reserving a private car will avoid unnecessary delays and inconvenience.
U.S. MARSHAL. The U.S. Marshal service is very helpful. You will meet the Marshals at the door as you pass through the metal detector. Government-issue photo ID is required. Cell phones, phone capable PDA’s and tablets are allowed in the building for attorneys only with a valid bar association membership card. Otherwise, you can check your phone with the Marshal service at the front entrance and it will be returned, if you remember to ask for it, as you exit the building. It is helpful to have one of your business cards available when checking your phone or PDA. Pay phones and restrooms are available on the Courtroom floors.
COURTROOM DESCRIPTION. The Courthouse was built in 1973. The courtrooms are large, measuring approximately 35 feet wide and 47 feet long. Attorney conference rooms adjacent to some of the courtrooms are available on a limited basis. The technology for most patent trials is rented for the case. Delaware judges are very receptive to the use of courtroom technology to facilitate a clear and easy understanding of the matter. We can assist with the arrangements for courtroom setup for Markman hearings and trial. The courtrooms are very similar in appearance. Photographs of Courtroom 6A are located in the Courtroom Views section.
